Effect Theory 2

 1) Write down a media product for each category of Bumbler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and WHY it fits that particular audience use/gratification. The first one is done for you: 


INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE
Example media product:
 The Times newspaper
Why audiences enjoy it:
 It tells audiences important information about politics, the world and more.

PERSONAL IDENTITY
Example media product:
 k drama
Why audiences enjoy it:   
People can relate to their background and their life.

DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT
Example media product: 
Tourism programs
Why audiences enjoy it: 
  They enjoy watching it because its a way to escape their normal lives.

RELATIONSHIPS
Example media product:
 my country 
Why audiences enjoy it:  
 Audience enjoy it because they have a relationship with the character and they want to  know what happens in the next episode.

2) Re-watch the clip from Blue Planet above and write a paragraph analysing how elements of the clip offer the audience pleasures or gratifications (use media terminology from Uses and Gratifications theory and the 3 Vs - notes outlined above). 

Audience can escape reality whilst their watching the blue planet.They can learn and take in now information regarding the animals and their habitat.They can also learn new information about the ocean.vicarious pleasure also helps them experience new tings through characters,animals etc. Voyeuristic shows people what happens behind the scene that we dont usually get to witness in real life.
